Spring has Sprung at SFW!

Hello followers! Spring is finally upon us and we’re beginning to emerge from our winter blog hibernation with a ton of updates. 2010 has really started with a bang for SFW. New clients and new projects have kept our cameras rollin’ and our fingers clickin’.  We’re really excited to share with you all the cool new pieces we’ve been working on and keep you apprised of all our latest happenings.

Stephen’s Media Blitz

After the success of the first KCTS showing of “The Power of the Snoqualmie Falls,” KCTS asked Stephen to stop by the studio to help raise money for their annual pledge drive.

Stephen later appeared in studio for an interview with KUOW’s Dave Beck:

You can download the interview here.

Next up for the Snoqualmie Falls doc: Emmy night! So stay posted.

Looks like it’s time to dust off the ol’ tuxedo. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has just announced the Northwest Regional EMMY nominees and SFW has been tapped!  Our doc “The Power of Snoqualmie Falls” will be one of six films vying for the best Cultural/Historical Documentary.

The 47th Annual Northwest Regional EMMY Awards will be held on Saturday June 5, at the Snoqualmie Casino. So stay tuned for all the hot red-carpet gossip… and to see if we can still fit into our tuxes after countless breakfast burrito binges.

Jewish Family Service “Community of Caring” Luncheon Video

The annual Jewish Family Service luncheon was held this past Tuesday and we were very excited to share our film to a packed audience of over 1,000 guests at the Westin Hotel.  It was an amazing event and we were honored with all the feedback we received from those in attendance. But more important, this year’s luncheon was the most successful to date for JFS, raising $789,941 for its clients! $90,000 more than last years!

It was great to once again work with Dick, Gail and everyone at JFS.  We can’t wait for next year.

“In a word: sensational!” -Richard Rosenwald, JFS

“The video was spectacular. Personally, I think it was the best yet!!” -Gail Pollack, JFS

SJCC “Circle of Friends” Luncheon Video

The Stroum Jewish Community Center is a gathering place.  The “J” supports and fosters the Jewish community through various programs, activities and groups.  For their luncheon video, we wanted to create a collage of stories about what it is that makes this place special.

After five days of interviewing 20+ people, the impact the “J” has had on people’s lives became very clear.  We heard stories of how couples met through the Jewish softball league and how lifelong friends first met at summer camp.  It was great to see how the J has created and nurtured such a vibrant community.

Nordstrom “Take Care: Wellness Program”

Recently, Nordstrom approached us to help them introduce their new health benefits plan. It encourages employees to get active and lead a healthier lifestyle.  In addition to the Nordstrom executives explaining the logistics of the program, we interviewed several employees who have taken it upon themselves to make a change and lead healthier lives.

Welcome Mike Attie

We are very excited to announce the latest addition to the SFW team: Mike Attie.

An East Coaster at heart, Mike is slowly warming up to the charms of the Pacific Northwest.  He dabbled in Internet marketing, advertising and even spent a couple of days in law school before landing in the wonderful world of film production.  His own short documentaries have played in festivals throughout the world and won numerous awards.

Mike’s favorite part of working at Sadis Filmworks (aside from his wonderful co-workers) is his daily visit to Pike’s Place Market, where he stares at the fish and schemes about what artisan cheese he will try next.

SFW Documentary to air on PBS!

Sadis Filmworks is proud to announce the PBS premiere of
THE POWER OF SNOQUALMIE FALLS

on KCTS/Channel 9, February 1st at 9pm.

Watch a quick preview:

This was an incredible collaborative effort with the folks at PSE who have a wonderful devotion to their rich history. This hour-long, HD piece, captures the compelling story of Charles Baker, a young civil engineer at the turn of the 20th century, who designed, financed and built the world’s first all-underground hydro-electric power plant at Snoqualmie Falls. The plant and transmission lines were built in the unbelievable time-frame of 16 months, propelling the Northwest into the age of electricity.

We’re very proud of our work on this documentary and hope you enjoy it.

SFW Video Featured on KCTS

Last November, we had the pleasure of working again with the Association of Fundraising Professionals on the videos that featured National Philanthropy Day’s 6 regional award winners.  Every year the AFP chooses outstanding philanthropic individuals and organizations who inspire communities.  This year, the story of the Award Winning Youth Philanthropist, Mina Saudagaran caught the attention of KCTS/PBS. The incredible story of her efforts to help young girls in Afghanistan was featured in a segment on KCTS on January 1 utilizing the story we created.

SFW Featured in Print Magazine

Back in June, we “calmly” expressed our excitement at the news that our graphic identity, designed by Mint, was being recognized in Print Magazine’s 2009 Regional Design Annual.  We finally have the hard copy proof in our hands and it was worth the wait.  Congratulations and thank you to Mint for your talent and great ability to capture our identity.  It’s an honor to see our name along with so many other great designs.
